Ive been working from home since March 2020, and I knew I couldnt just sit inside all day without moving, he says. My daily commute into New York City from New Jersey provided lots of exercise walking to the office, running to catch a subway train but the pandemic changed all of that.
Mastrojohn set a goal to walk 5 miles a day at least four days a week, and hes been sticking to it. Im usually out there for 1.5 hours during each walk, through rain, sun, snow, sleet, and hail, he says. Its hard to separate the impact walking has had on my numbers versus the medication, but its given me so much more energy, and it definitely isnt hurting my numbers probably only helping!

Eighteen healthy adults took part in the study and all but one completed it.

Coconut Milk Beverage: No Cholesterol High In Saturated Fat

One cup of unsweetened coconut milk beverage contains 4 g of saturated fat, but most of it is made up of medium-chain fatty acids, which may have some health advantages. But there’s not enough research to conclude that coconuts and coconut milk are a heart-healthy choice when you have high cholesterol.
The final verdict is still out, says Lavinia Butuza, RD, a nutritionist in Sacramento, California. Heart patients need to be careful with anything coconut, and treat all saturated fats as the same, for now.

A study published in the International Journal of Obesity looked at three large population studies and found that people who regularly drank high amounts of milk had lower levels of both good and bad cholesterol, although their BMI levels were higher than non-milk drinkers. Further analysis of other large studies also suggests that those who regularly consumed milk had a 14% lower risk of coronary heart disease.
The team of researchers took a genetic approach to milk consumption by looking at a variation in the lactase gene associated with digestion of milk sugars known as lactose.
The study identified that having the genetic variation where people can digest lactose was a good way for identifying people who consumed higher levels of milk.
Prof Vimal Karani, Professor of Nutrigenetics and Nutrigenomics at the University of Reading said:
Even though the UK biobank data showed that those with the lactase genetic variation had 11% lower risk of type 2 diabetes, the study did not suggest that there is any strong evidence for a link between higher milk intake and increased likelihood of diabetes or its related traits such as glucose and inflammatory biomarkers.

Swapping For Skim Milk To Lower Cholesterol
Research backs up the idea that opting for skim milk over whole milk is a good idea for your overall health, including your cholesterol level. A 2010 article published in “Food and Nutrition Research” reports that replacing high fat dairy products, including milk, with lower-fat dairy foods can lower cholesterol levels. The key here is replacement, however.
